Simply because the rear wheels are able to kick in and help out, the AWD Sienna is able to accelerate from slick spots that might cause the FWD minivan to get stuck. WebOf course, snow volume is more the issue here and that wouldn’t be solved by AWD. My (‘15 but still) drags ass when it snows because it low to the ground but it handles winter with winter tires better than any car I’ve ever owned (SUVs/trucks notwithstanding). YMMV OP.
