In the shared memory successive 32 bit words belong to successive banks (e.g., if we access the 18 th word it belongs to 18%16 = 2nd bank ). Each bank has a bandwidth of 32 bits per clock cycle i.e., at any clock cycle a bank can give only 32 bits i.e., a word. Also the odd_warp if statement seems required, for some reason.
